Reason no. 643 for wearing shoes
Accidentally dropping the spare tire squarely on your first and second toes whilst trying to put it back in the trunk.
Um, I think I've broken my toes. The pain is radiating from the toes into the metatarsals. There's very little bending happening. The bottom pad of my foot directly connected to the big toe aches too. And I only dropped the tire on the nail portions of my first and second toes. There's some swelling and redness on the top of my foot in the area leading into those toes.
I've never broken a bone so I don't know. I HAVE torn cartilage and and the supporting framework in my knee and ankle.
This is definitely worse than stubbing a toe.
Perhaps when the initial pains subside, I'll know more.
Sad thing? I haven't learned my lesson. I'll continue to be barefooted.
OW!! Definitely get it X-rayed if it continues to hurt. My goodness Woman.....Isn't bare footing wonderful? :) I'm a barefooter...even when I was a young girl I use to run across the street to my best friends house bare footed. heehee.

Ow! and I have trouble wearing shoes all the time, too. My toe trouble happened when I tried to step through a door jamb. The doc just taped my toes together like a make-shift splint. You might try it if you have to put off going to the doctor's office. Oh, and once again, ow!

Owie! Owie! Owie! Your poor toes. I know how you feel though, even as much suffering as my feet get, I still cannot bring myself to keep shoes on when feet are perfectly suitable. Around the house, most places outside, in my office, the shoes will come off. My Russian tells me I have 'peasant feet' because of the callouses and such. Still can't make me put my shoes on just to hang out in the kitchen. He's the freak.
Be careful! I hope your toes feel better.

If there is more purple and black the next day, you should get an X-ray. I was walking without shoes last year, and I caught the corner of the wall and broke the bone in my baby toe in half.
The good news is that smaller toes don't usually need surgery. Mine is still in two, and the doc says that the scar tissue is good enough for him. I can do some cool tricks with my toe.
I remember that the pain never really went away for a few days, though.
An X-ray can't hurt anything.
Hope all is well,
John G.
